Professor Jean-Michel Scherrmann, Ph.D.

Jean-Michel Scherrmann is Professor of Pharmacokinetics at the Pharmacy University of Paris since 1987. He is managing INSERM U705, which concerns neuropsychopharmacology of addictions, vulnerability and experimental or clinical variability. Prior to that, he was managing INSERM Unity 26. He is also heading the Radiopharmacy Unit of Lariboisière Hospital of Paris. Since 1980, his scientific work has been devoted to immunotherapy of venomous and drug intoxications. From 1995 to 1999, he was the co-president of the Scientific Advisory of Drug Abuse Sciences, Inc. During the last few years, neuropharmacokinetics has been developed in his group with a focus on drug transport into the brain, and more specifically, its modulation by peptidic transport. Jean-Michel Scherrmann, a member of a number of scientific societies and editorial boards, is also the author of more than 250 scientific articles and numerous communications.


Dr Gavril Pasternak, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr Pasternak is a recognized scientist in the field of pharmacology of pain. He is currently Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at the Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Centre in New York. Over the past 25 years, his research has focused on the mode of action of analgesics drugs, work that has allowed him to publish over 300 scientific articles in international journals and being granted three patents, with a number of others pending. Dr Pasternak serves on the Editorial Boards of eight international scientific journals, including Molecular Pharmacology, J. Pharmacology Experimental Therapeutics and Neuropharmacology.
